Managing Sessions

A session represents an active login to your OctoPerf account from a specific device. You can view all your active sessions, see details about each one, and terminate sessions you no longer need.

Manage Sessions

Why This Matters

When you log in to OctoPerf, you create a session on that device. If you log in from multiple devices, each login is a separate session. Being able to see and manage these sessions helps you:

  • Secure your account: Remove access from lost or stolen devices
  • Monitor activity: See which devices are currently logged in
  • Clean up: Disconnect from devices you no longer use
  • Maintain control: Ensure only devices you own can access your account

Understanding Session Information

For each session, you see:

  • Operating System: The OS of the device (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.) shown as an icon
  • Browser: The web browser being used (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.) shown as an icon
  • IP Address: The network address of the device
  • User Agent: A description combining the browser and OS (e.g., "Chrome 120 on Linux")
  • Last Updated: When the session was last active
  • Expires At: The date when this session automatically expires
  • Time Left: Days, hours, and minutes remaining until the session expires
  • Current Session Indicator: A checkmark (✓) shows which session you're currently using

Terminating Sessions

You can remove individual sessions or clear multiple sessions at once.

Terminate One Session

  1. Find the session you want to remove
  2. Click Terminate
  3. If it's your current session, the button says Disconnect instead
  4. Confirm when prompted

Terminate Your Current Session

Clicking Disconnect on your current session (marked with ✓) will:

  • End your current login
  • Log you out of the application
  • Require you to log in again

Terminate Multiple Sessions

  1. Check the boxes next to the sessions you want to remove
  2. Click Terminate [X] Sessions
  3. Confirm when prompted

To skip the confirmation dialog and terminate immediately, hold Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) while clicking the button.

Terminate All Sessions

Click Terminate All to remove every active session except the one you're currently using. Confirm when prompted.

Session Expiration

Sessions automatically expire for security.

  • Expires At: Shows the exact date and time the session will automatically expire
  • Time Left: Counts down the remaining time (shows days, hours, and minutes)
  • Expired: Once a session expires, it appears with an "Expired" label and you can no longer use it

Refreshing the List

Click Refresh to reload the sessions list and see the latest information. This is useful if you recently logged in from a new device and want to verify it appears in the list.

Tips for Managing Sessions

  • Check regularly: Review your sessions periodically to catch unauthorized access
  • Terminate old devices: If you've upgraded your device, terminate the old session
  • Monitor the list: Unfamiliar IP addresses or browsers may indicate unauthorized access
  • Keep current: Remove expired sessions to keep your list clean

Security Best Practices

  • Terminate sessions immediately if you believe a device is compromised
  • Log out when using shared or public computers (this terminates that session)
  • Review sessions after password changes or security events
  • Remove sessions from devices you no longer own or control
