*Quick Video explaining how to record HTTP requests with Google Chrome*

## How to record

The following procedure explains how to record HTTP as an HAR file with Chrome:

* Start Chrome,
* Then press _CTRL_ + _SHIFT_ + _N_ to start an incognito session,
* Press _F12_ to display the developer bar,
* Select _Network_ tab, and check `preserve log`,
* Navigate to record HTTP traffic,
* Right-click on any request and select __Save as HAR with content__.

!!! note
    There is know issue with chrome dev tools when the `preserve log` option is activated that [prevents the recorded responses from being saved](https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=141129). To prevent this it is possible to click each response in the dev tools and display the `response` tab. But an easier solution is to use [Firefox](https://api.octoperf.com/doc/design/create-virtual-user/har-recorder/record-firefox-har/) to generate the HAR.

## Create Virtual User: Import HAR

Upload the newly created _HAR_ file to create a virtual user:

![Create Virtual User from HAR](https://api.octoperf.com/doc/design/create-virtual-user/har-recorder/img/chrome/import-har-chrome.png "Create your virtual user from the recorded Chrome HAR file")

Simply drop the file in the HAR area or use the _Upload new HAR file_ button and hit _Next_.

Before uploading, you can adjust the [import options](https://api.octoperf.com/doc/design/create-virtual-user/har-recorder/#import-options): ad blocker, static resources and think times.
